Innovation researchers at IRIS and UiS fully collaborate through our joint innovation centre. One of the most important results from the innovation research at IRIS Social Science in 2014 comes from the RCN project, ”University-firm linkages as drivers of innovation”, which focuses on the interaction between universities and businesses. The studies here show wide variations between the roles which the universities in Tromsø, Nordland and Stavanger play for the regional private sector. It also provides answers to why companies collaborate with local universities and offer advice on how university strategies for regional business development can achieve greater impact.
IRIS Social Science has for several years focused on the development of research related to ”employee-driven innovation”. One of the projects under the auspices of LO/NHO deal with the importance of diversity for innovation in the workplace, and another deals with employee-driven innovation in municipalities with a focus on achieving lasting impact from specific innovation projects.
